In 1982 Paul Schmidt Jr. founded "Paul's Bobcat Service." Paul established his reputation in the excavation business by specializing in difficult jobs in locations such as La Jolla, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe. In 1987 Ernie Dobson, who was working as a representative for Miramar Bobcat, formed a friendship and business relationship with Paul Schmidt. Ernie's 20 plus years of experience in compact equipment and sales has contributed to establishing his reputation in San Diego County and in the industry. He is known for his knowledge and application of compact equipment. At the core of this relationship is their passion for conquering intricate and demanding construction projects. They both value their reputation in the construction industry and in customer satisfaction. In the late 1990s Ernie and Paul, blending their unique talents in the industry, created a company that has evolved into what is known today as PBI: specializing in interlocking pavers, custom retaining walls, with an emphasis on demolition and earthwork. With this in mind, PBI is able to maintain and consistently achieve the high standards they demand.

What makes PBI stand out from others in this industry? The answer is easy. PBI uses no subcontractors. Starting with the customer's initial phone call, PBI will handle your project in-house from beginning to completion. Customers can also count on the fact that PBI will exceed their expectations from start to finish. PBI continues to sustain its reputation for perfection and quality craftsmanship.
